Senior Security

About

We believe people deserve clear guidance and dignity when facing financial scams.

Mission

Senior Security helps older adults, families, and caregivers prevent scams through practical education and supportive resources.

Our story

We saw too many people blamed or isolated after fraud attempts. We built Senior Security to make prevention and recovery easier, kinder, and more actionable.

Our approach

How we work

  • Use plain language and short steps.
  • Lead with calm choices, not fear.
  • Offer tools people can use the same day.
  • Design resources that families can share.

Values

Respect, clarity, accessibility, and community care guide everything we publish.

Founder

Shaan Duggal, founder of Senior Security

Shaan Duggal

Shaan Duggal is a 9th grade student at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) and the founder of Senior Security, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting older adults from scams and fraud. While volunteering at senior living communities, he saw residents fall victim to phone scams and social engineering. He realized that the biggest barrier was not awareness but access to simple, clear information. To solve this issue, he built Senior Security and now visits senior homes across Southern California to give free resources directly to those who need them. Shaan also conducts AI security research at UC San Diego and brings technical experience from internships in AI engineering and robotics, which gives him a vantage point on how emerging technologies can be used to exploit vulnerable populations. He is a Davidson Young Scholar and a Congressional Gold Award recipient. Shaan believes that keeping seniors safe is not just a job for experts alone, but that it starts in the community.

Ambassador program

Senior Security is part of the Davidson Young Scholars Ambassador Program. Through this program, we lead the Senior Security Project — a community initiative focused on protecting older adults from scams and fraud through direct outreach, free resources, and educational workshops across Southern California.
